The schedules include a host of intriguing dates and match ups, as well as a collection of over 30 broadcasts on CSI SportsNet, the home of CSI Athletics webcasting available through www.csidolphins.com.

The CSI Soccer teams are looking to bounce back after subpar 2009 campaigns. The five-time back-to-back CUNYAC Champs on the women's side were finally dethroned in 2009 to new champion City College of New York, and the two teams will meet twice during the season, including a home date on October 13 that will mark CSI's second annual Kick for a Cure, designed to promote breast cancer awareness and raise money for the Staten Island Breast Cancer Research Initiative. The season will also see the introduction of new CUNYAC-rivals John Jay College, who will sport a women's soccer team for the first time since 2004. CSI will face the Bloodhounds twice as well (home on September 21, away on October 15).

Under third-year head coach Armen Simoniants, the CSI men will be looking to improve on a four-win campaign that saw them on the outside looking-in come playoff time. The team will introduce the fall season with a 3:30pm non-conference face-off with Polytechnic University on September 1. The team will play its first four games on the road, before returning home to play four out of the next five at home between September 11-22.

EDNITA LORENZO TABBED CSI NCAA WOMAN OF THE YEAR

College of Staten Island women's soccer senior and Student-Athlete Advisory Committee President Ednita Lorenzo has been tabbed the College's NCAA Woman of the Year, a yearly distinction bestowed on her as part of the NCAA's recognition of female student-athletes who have excelled in academics, leadership, and community service.

A four-year stalwart and captain of a women's soccer team that collected three championships in her years at CSI, Lorenzo added four goals and an assist over her career, including a trio of scores in 2009, playing in the midfield and at the front. Lorenzo was named Female Student-Athlete of the Year at CSI's Commencement Honors in May 2010 prior to graduating with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Communications with a concentration in Journalism, boasting an outstanding 3.11 GPA.

WOMEN'S SOCCER FINALE CANCELLED

Due to conference committments for CSI's would-be visitors this afternoon, the College of Staten Island women's soccer contest against Rutgers-Newark has been cancelled. The game was suppossed to be the home and season finale for the Dolphins (3-11-2), but rainouts on Saturday prevented Rutgers-Newark from playing its NJAC schedule and so the meeting with CSI was cancelled to allow for the make-up of the conference game.
With no make-up of today's game scheduled, CSI's final record will stand at 3-11-2. The team dropped a 3-1 decision on Saturday against Medgar Evers College, dashing its hopes of moving towards its sixth straight CUNYAC Championship.

COUGARS BOUNCE DOLPHINS, 3-1, IN CUNYAC FINALE

The Dolphins hopes of winning a sixth consecutive CUNYAC Championship were dashed today, as the College of Staten Island fell to visiting Medgar Evers, 3-1, in the CUNYAC regular season finale which advanced the Cougars into the CUNYAC Final on November 7. Medgar Evers improved to 2-1-1 in CUNYAC play this season (7-8-2 overall), and will meet City College of New York (2-1-1) in the championship. CSI fell to 0-2-2 in conference play, and needed to win outright today to gain the final. The outcome was not meant to be on Senior Day.
After playing to a 1-1 draw earlier in the season, the teams knew it would be a heavily contested matchup, and that’s exactly the type of game that ensued. The game, however, was also marred by a questionable call that occurred just over 13 minutes into play.
With play exchanging on both sides of the field, Medgar Evers was on the counterattack, when a Wendy Gallegos pass found an open Kerissa Harris right down the middle of the field. Harris appeared to be in an offside position when receiving the pass and the linesman raised his flag to signal the offside. However, the head official continued to let play ensue, negating the call by the linesman, and Harris ran in untouched and buried her shot passed a bewildered Jessica Levy, who stood relatively motionless in goal.

OLD-WESTBURY NIPS CSI IN OVERTIME, 2-1

The College of Staten Island women’s soccer team fell for the second straight game, falling in overtime to SUNY-Old Westbury by a 2-1 count. The game winner was scored just 1:39 into the overtime frame. With the loss, CSI fell to 3-8-2 overall, while the Panthers improved to 5-6-1.
In a game dominated offensively by the Panthers and played mainly on CSI’s end of the field, the Dolphins were able to keep things close, thanks to heads-up defensive play in the box and timely goalkeeping by CSI’s Mayda Perdomo.
The teams battled for chances in the opening frame, and even though CSI was outshot, 15-5, the game was scoreless at intermission. Perdomo shined by making six saves while OW’s Jennifer Kupfer made a single save in the period.

FARMINGDALE HOLDS WOMEN'S SOCCER SCORELESS, 8-0

The College of Staten Island’s women’s soccer team dropped a 8-0 match to Farmingdale State College on Wednesday afternoon at the CSI Soccer Complex. The Dolphins fall to a 3-7-2 record while the Rams of Farmingdale extend to a 9-3 record.

The Rams scored three of their nine goals in the first half. Melissa Elie scored the first goal of the game off an assist from Shannon Kalogeras 21 minutes into the game. Less than two minutes later, Christina Merrill scored on an unassisted play on a breakaway shot to put the score at 2-0. With six minutes remaining in the half, Rebecca Richman tallied the team’s third goal on a chip shot from the right side.

CSI WOMEN BACK ON TRACK WITH BIG WIN

The College of Staten Island women’s soccer team erased a five-game winless skid with a one-sided victory over visiting College of Mount Saint Vincent, 9-0, in a non-conference affair held at the CSI Soccer Complex earlier this afternoon. The win upped the Dolphins overall mark to 3-6-2, while MSV fell to 0-10. The game also marked CSI women's soccer first-ever Kick for a Cure event, helping raise Breast Cancer Awareness. All proceeds generated from the event were donated to the Staten Island Breast Cancer Research Initiative.
CSI wanted to set the tone early, and managed to do so by scoring a pair of goals early. Just 8:25 into the game, Tina Chechel rang in the games first goal with a hard shot from the right side from a Lauen Neglia pass. Exactly one minute later, Neglia scored her very own goal when she was left alone on the left side off of a turnover.
CSI added two more tallies in the first half, both by Neglia, who scored the natural hat trick. Both goals were scored on fast-break, one-on-one, opportunities when Neglia stole passes near midfield. Mt. St. Vincent keeper Michelle Miller was faced with a 4-0 halftime deficit despite recording 12 saves, a couple of which in amazing fashion.

CSI is now 0-1-2 in the CUNYAC and 2-5-2 overall. CCNY's extends their record to 1-1-1 in CUNY and 2-6-1 overall.

Carina Subia scored the first goal just five minutes into the game. Her shot to the top right corner off the net off a pass from Kristina Phu gave the Beavers a 1-0 lead to finish the first half. Twenty two minutes into the second half, Phu took CCNY’s second point of the game off a penalty kick. With 8 minutes remaining, the Subia struck again to close out the game with another long shot goal putting the final score at 3-0.

The Dolphins tallied 8 shots with two on goal, the Beavers totaled 14 with 8 on goal.

CSI goalie Jessica Levy had four saves and CCNY’s Kate Malytska shut out the Dolphins with a total of two saves.

The Dolphins will travel to Mahwah, New Jersey on Saturday afternoon for a 1:00 pm contest against Ramapo College.

CSI WOMEN DRAW WITH MEDGAR EVERS, 1-1

The College of Staten Island and Medgar Evers College played to a 1-1 draw in women’s soccer action at Aviator Field in Brooklyn, New York on Saturday afternoon. The come-from-behind tie saw the Dolphins crawl out of a hole that they found themselves in just five minutes into play. With the draw, CSI is now 2-4-2 on the season and 0-0-2 in the CUNYAC, while Medgar Evers advanced to 5-3-2 overall and 1-0-1 in CUNYAC play.
The Cougars were the first team to strike and they didn’t have to wait long to grab the lead. At the 5:53 mark, Kerissa Harris laced a crossing pass from the right side, and it found the boot of Giselle Morgan, who pumped in one of her three shots on goal into the back of the net for a quick, 1-0, lead. From there, Medgar Evers was able to keep the Dolphins at bay, and both teams had only a few quality chances as they combined for just five shots on goal in the half.

PURCHASE STATE HANDS CSI TOUGH 2-1 LOSS

The College of Staten Island women’s soccer team worked hard to get the equalizing goal, but then gave up another after just 27 seconds, to suffer a 2-1 loss at the hands of visiting Purchase State College in a non-conference affair held at the CSI Soccer Complex. The loss dipped the Dolphins to 2-4-1 overall while the Panthers upped their record to 3-3-1.
Outshooting the Dolphins, 7-2 in the first stanza (3-2 on goal), Purchase State got on the board in the 26th minute, as a Sarah Lichy pass found Abigal Katz all alone on a breakaway, and Katz buried a shot passed CSI goalie Lisa Radano to give the visitors a 1-0 edge. That was the way the score would stay until intermission, as both goalies made a pair of saves in the half to keep it close.
