College of Staten Island Athletics - DOUBLE OVERTIME GIVES BARUCH WIN OVER MEN'S SOCCER, 2-1

The College of Staten island Men’s Soccer team dropped a 2-1 game in double overtime to the Baruch College Bearcats on Saturday afternoon at Met Oval in Queens, New York. The Dolphins drop to a 3-13 overall record and a 2-5 record in the CUNYAC while the Bearcats extend to a 5-4-3 overall record and a 5-0-2 CUNYAC record.

Despite a scoreless first half, the Dolphins tallied four shots while the Bearcats totaled fourteen.

The second half saw the most action when Andriy Sudak of CSI scored a shot of a one-on-one play with Baruch’s goalkeeper Nelson DiBastiano. Thirty minutes later Freddy Carrasco of the Bearcats took a shot right past CSI goalie Andrew Brown to tie the game at 1-1. With the score tied at times end, the teams went into overtime.

Again, the first overtime was scoreless with CSI taking just one shot and Baruch tallying three. With two minutes remaining in the second overtime, Jacob Cohen headed in the game winning goal with an assisted pass off Val Kirykovich and Freddy Carrasco.

Brown had 11 saves in goal for CSI while DiBastiano had two saves.

The game saw many cautions and ejections. CSI totaled seven yellowcards and Dimitri Sidiropoulos was given a red card after his second yellow. Baruch had three yellowcards.

The Dolphins head back into action on Monday afternoon at 4:00 pm as they take on Purchase State College. The game was originally supposed to be played on Friday, October 9 but was postponed until Monday, October 12^th.
