The College of Staten Island men's tennis team enjoyed a fine campaign that ended with a CUNYAC Postseason Tournament Semifinal appearance, and the season extended into this afternoon with postseason honors afforded to trio Matthew Vesci, Alex Tsui, and Akaki Dundua.  The collection of Dolphins earned on to the CUNYAC's second team.

Statistically, Tsui was the winner of the bunch, as he sported a CSI-best 10-2 singles record to go with a 6-4 doubles mark.  The singles run for Tsui saw him drop his first two matches of the season, only to come back and win his final 10 from the No. 3 position, all the way down to No. 6.  The mark also included a perfect 5-0 run through the CUNYAC this year as well.  In doubles, Tsui paired with four different Dolphins to amass his 6-4 campaign, a mark that included a 3-1 posting in the No. 1 position and a 2-0 mark at No. 3.

Freshman Akaki Dundua was also on a terrific tear this year and he posted a 6-4 opening year mark in singles and a 7-3 mark in doubles, the second best mark on the team in that category.  Dundua was 3-1 in CUNYAC matches this season and also paired with four different teammates to accumulate his doubles record, which included a perfect 3-0 mark at Nos. 1-2 this season and a 2-1 CUNYAC record.

Rounding out the award winners was sophomore Matthew Vesci, who improved enough to merit the No. 1 position in singles this season.  That was due to a 5-1 mark at the No. 2 position, showing that he had the goods to compete at the elevated position by midseason.  Vesci added a 4-8 doubles record this year, with all but one of those wins coming at the top flight.

Collectively the Dolphins overcame a 1-3 start to the season by sporting a final 10-6 mark that included a 4-2 CUNYAC regular season mark and a first round tournament win over John Jay College.
