URSOMANNO LANDS CUNYAC ALL-STAR HONOR

College of Staten Island men's tennis star and lone senior Daniel Ursomanno was rewarded for his efforts this season, landing a City University of New York Athletic Conference First-Team All-Star honor, it was announced today.  The conference selected its yearly honors coinciding with the conclusion of the CUNYAC Championship held this past week at the National Tennis Center.

A big bright spot for the Dolphins this season, Ursomanno powered up through the lineup in his senior season spending a bulk of his time at the first and second doubles slot in the lineup.  Ursomanno did not miss a beat, boasting a 6-1 overall mark in CUNYAC competition.  Boasting an overall singles mark of 7-6, Ursomanno flourished at his normal No. 2 position in the lineup, finishing 6-2 overall this season, which included a three-match win streak to conclude the season.

In Doubles play, Ursomanno managed a 6-7 overall mark, but paired with usual teammate Timur Shamuradov, the duo excelled to a 5-2 overall mark, all at the top flight.  The Dolphins finished 5-9 overall this season, falling in the CUNYAC semifinals to eventual-champion Baruch College.

Hunter College's Gonzalo Saez-Garcia took home the Player of the Year honors for the CUNYAC in only his freshman season, while fellow freshman Jonathan Selegean from Baruch College won Rookie of the Year.  Brooklyn College Head Coach Ahmad Odetalla won Coach of the Year honors while Frantisek Demek won the conference's Sportsmanship Award.
