Dolphins Host Rutgers-Camden and Look for Seventh Straight Win

STATEN ISLAND, NY - The College of Staten Island women's basketball team looks to extend its winning streak as the Dolphins take on Rutgers-Camden at the CSI Sports & Recreation Center, Tuesday. The game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. tipoff.

The Dolphins are currently on a six-game winning streak, marking the longest streak since the 2007-08 season when they finished 21-8 overall and 12-1 in CUNYAC play.

While CSI has never had great luck against the Scarlet Raptors, as they lead the all-time series 3-0, the Dolphins have the advantage in terms of the season. Staten Island is currently 6-1 overall, while Rutgers is struggling with an overall record of 1-3. Even more impressive is that the Dolphins have outscored their opponents by an average of 13.1 points and are undefeated at home.

About Rutgers-Camden …
Rutgers-Camden finished last season in seventh place in the New Jersey Athletic Conference, with a NJAC record of 3-13. Unfortunately for the Scarlet Raptors, the conference is not expecting much different from them this season as they were voted ninth in the conference in this season's preseason NJAC Coaches Poll. Perhaps the low rankings are not just due to its 10-15 record from the previous season, but may be related to the fact that the Raptors lost their top two scorers, Brittany Turner and Lillian Chukwueze.

Be on the watch for senior center Tina Croxton,  junior guard/forward Irene Grimanis, and sophomore forward, Michelle Onu. Croxton averaged 3.4 points and 4.0 rebounds last season and had a team-high 32 rebounds.  She also is seventh on the program's career list with 107 blocked shots. Grimanis is a two year letter winner who averaged 5.6 rebounds and 1.4 points a year ago. Lastly is Onu, who prior to last season suffered an injury that limited her game play, who averaging 7.0 points and 6.0 rebounds in her slow comeback.
