Dolphins Grab Season's First Win Against St. Joe's - Brooklyn

Box Score NEW YORK – With three players scoring in double-digits for the College of Staten Island, the Dolphins went on to post a convincing 75-62 win over St. Joseph's of Brooklyn in the final game of the NYU Tip-Off Tournament, Saturday.
 
The Dolphins took the lead early on, starting the game with a 10-5 run in the first five minutes of play. Their hot streak continued throughout the first half as Staten Island managed to go on a 10-0 run in just three minutes, forcing the Bears to take a timeout as they trailed 22-9. The Dolphins went on to end the half with a 13-point lead thanks to Megan Myhre and Lisa Galasso who tallied 12 and 11 points, respectively.
                                                                                                                      
The second half was much of the same as St. Joe's struggled to keep up with the pace and effective shooting of the Dolphins. Leading the way for CSI was Melaine Johnson with 13 points, while Galasso added 12 points in the second half.
 
Overall, it was Galasso who led all scorers with 23 points and added five assists, while Johnson registered the season's first double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Also scoring in double figures for the Dolphins was Myhre with 12 points.
 
While Staten Island may have won the game, it was St. Joe's who won the battle of the boards, outrebounding the Dolphins 52-46.
 
The Dolphins return to action Tuesday, Nov. 19, as they face NYU-Poly at the Staten Island Sports and Recreation Center in their season home opener. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
