The College of Staten Island women's soccer team's season is not done just yet. Less than 48 hours after falling in the CUNYAC Championship, the Dolphins good better news in the announcement of a postseason berth in the ECAC Metro NY/NJ Postseason Tournament. The 16-2-2 Dolphins earned the eight-team field's No. 5 seed, and will travel to No. 4 St. Joseph's College of Long Island on Wednesday, November 13, at 7pm, to kick off the quarterfinal round of competition.
For the Dolphins, the ECAC berth is the fourth in their history, and their third straight. The developing program fell in the quarterfinal round in each of their previous outings, including a devastating 9-1 defeat at the hands of Mount Saint Mary last year. This year the Dolphins will face a familiar opponent in the Eagles, who played to a 0-0 stalemate with CSI during the regular season.
Richard Stockton College earned the tourney's top seed, and will host No. 8 Mount Saint Vincent. In the other quarterfinal matchups, No. 2 Mt. St. Mary will face No. 7 Hartwick College, and No. 3 Kean University will face No. 6 Old Westbury. The Dolphins own a 1-1-1 record against the rest of the ECAC field, having beaten Mt. St. Vincent and falling to Old Westbury. The Dolphins are 1-4-1 all-time vs. St. Joseph's, losing four in a row to the Eagles before a 3-1 win last year and the scoreless draw this season.
?A win by CSI would advance them to the ECAC semifinals for the first time in program history. The semifinal round will take place on Saturday, November 16, with time and venue to be announced.
