CSI FALL SCHEDULES RELEASED AS SEASON APPROACHES

Lauren Neglia's goal in the 55th minute tied the score for good at 1-1.
CSI's Lauren Neglia will look to lead the Dolphins back to CUNYAC prominence.
The College of Staten Island has released its lineup of athletic schedules spanning six fall sports today.  The schedules include a host of intriguing dates and match ups, as well as a collection of over 30 broadcasts on CSI SportsNet, the home of CSI Athletics webcasting available through www.csidolphins.com.

The CSI Soccer teams are looking to bounce back after subpar 2009 campaigns.  The five-time back-to-back CUNYAC Champs on the women's side were finally dethroned in 2009 to new champion City College of New York, and the two teams will meet twice during the season, including a home date on October 13 that will mark CSI's second annual Kick for a Cure, designed to promote breast cancer awareness and raise money for the Staten Island Breast Cancer Research Initiative.  The season will also see the introduction of new CUNYAC-rivals John Jay College, who will sport a women's soccer team for the first time since 2004.  CSI will face the Bloodhounds twice as well (home on September 21, away on October 15).

Under third-year head coach Armen Simoniants, the CSI men will be looking to improve on a four-win campaign that saw them on the outside looking-in come playoff time.  The team will introduce the fall season with a 3:30pm non-conference face-off with Polytechnic University on September 1.  The team will play its first four games on the road, before returning home to play four out of the next five at home between September 11-22.

The CSI men's and women's cross-country teams are set for their second foray under head coach Robert Russo-Vikos.  CSI's youngest coach was brought on just days before the 2009 campaign a year ago and with a full season's recruiting under his belt is hopeful for CUNYAC championship contention.  The CUNYAC Championship will be held on Halloween, and CSI will host its 3rd annual Invitational just a week before on October 24 at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, New York.

The CSI Women's Volleyball unit was an ECAC tournament entry two years ago and are looking to recapture some of that magic after a 12-15 campaign a year ago.  The Dolphins will do so with the benefits of only three home contests (thanks largely to a schedule chock full of neutral site tri-matches).  CSI will host its third annual Serve for a Cure to promote breast cancer awareness on September 21 vs. Baruch College, and will have a highlighted rematch vs. Lehman College on October 11 as part of a CUNYAC Tri-Match as a rematch of last year's postseason quarterfinal loss.

Rounding things up, the CSI women's tennis team will be looking to expand on a season where they finished as the conference's number five seed a year ago.  With a majority of their lineup returning fourth year head coach Paul Ricciardi is optimistic.  CSI will play three of its first four contests and will finish with its final two at home against conference opponents Medgar Evers College (October 6) and Brooklyn College (October 12).

CSI SportsNet, the webcasting home for CSI Athletics will be accommodate fans with plenty of coverage in 2010-11.  The team at Sportsnet will cover 11 men's soccer, 10 women's soccer, and 6 volleyball dates concentrating primarily when CSI takes to the road, so that fans can listen in when the Dolphins are away.  SportsNet will also carry CUNYAC postseason and beyond should CSI advance.
