The College of Staten Island will be celebrating its 10th Annual Barnes & Noble College Booksellers CSI Golf Outing on Friday at the South Shore Country Club on Staten Island.  The event, an annual fund-raiser aimed at raising revenue for CSI Athletics, promises to see over 100 golfers enjoy a complete 18 holes on the links, great raffle giveaways and a four-star luncheon to follow at the course’s catering hall.

Together with the CSI Foundation and College Advancement, the Office of Athletics & Recreation will be on-hand to get the morning underway with an 7:30am shotgun start.  After a hearty breakfast, nearly 100 golfers will tee off, helping to raise $20,000 to benefit Athletics and student-athletes, many of whom will also be in attendance throughout the day assisting in the event.

Golf Outing Committee Chair John Mazza, CSI Foundation Coordinator Erika Hellstrom, and Director of Athletics Paul Bobb, to name a few, will get the festivities and fund-raising underway.  Later, awards will be handed out in a variety of categories including best overall score, longest drive, and closest to the pin competition.  Graciously donated raffle prizes will also be awarded to lucky winners in a rousing luncheon held later at South Shore Country Club's reception hall.

All tolled, the outing should continue in its tradition of supporting the college's many fund-raising efforts, principally those in athletics.

"The golf outing is a great event aimed at raising funds and support of the athletic program at CSI,” said Bobb. “We use these funds principally support our meal money program when our athletes travel away from Staten Island for competition. Our coaches and athletes are always proud to be a part of this function, and it’s a valuable part of our operation.”

"Our student-athletes always come out in force to show their appreciation," said Katie Arcuri, Assistant AD for Student-Athlete Services and coordinator of student-athlete involvement on the day of the outing.  "It looks like the great weather will join us and will help contribute to what should be a fantastic day."

Although registration is preferred, walk-ups to golf are always welcome, as well as those just interested in having lunch or contributed via a donation. Interested participants can call (718) 982-2365 to reserve their place on the links or set up a donation.
