Danielle McLaughlin had 14 points for the Dolphins despite the loss.
The Bearcats of Baruch College took victory over the CSI Dolphins in women’s basketball on Saturday, February 6th at the CSI Sports and Recreation Center. The Dolphins fall to an 8-3 CUNYAC record and an 11-10 overall record. The Bearcats continue to stay undefeated in the CUNYAC with a 11-0 record while extending their overall record to 18-4.

It looked as though the Dolphins had a good grip on the game to start, taking the lead until the 13 minute mark. CSI would try to get the game back for the next three minutes, tying the game three times. The Bearcats took the lead, reaching as high as five, until a Cailtin Johnson 3-pointer put the Dolphins ahead by one at 2:32. Baruch reacted right away with a layup by Medgan Bouwen to put them back in the lead, 32-31. Kristen Panariello and Denise Zajonc answered with back-to-back layups to give the Dolphins a three point cushion with 1:41 to go in the half. Another layup by Baruch put the score at 35-34 in Dolphins favor to end the half.

Baruch came out with a 6-0 run and took the lead for the remainder of the game. The Dolphins closed the deficit to one at 15:00 and that was the closest Baruch would let them. At the 8:00 minute mark, the Bearcats started on a steady double-digit lead never letting CSI get closer than seven points.

For the Dolphins, Danielle McLaughlin tallied 14 points including four 3-pointers. Johnson and Mallory Ameneiros each had 11 points. Katelyn Hepworth had a team-high 12 rebounds to go with 8 points.

The Bearcats saw four players in double-digits. Leading the team was Megan Bouwens with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Monique salmon totaled 13 points and five assists while Kalea Davis added 12 points and a game-high 16 rebounds.

The Dolphins will hit the road to play conference-rivals Brooklyn College on Wednesday, February 10th, at 5:30 pm.
