Babatunde Adekanbi scored the game's lone goal with 24 minutes remaining in the second half for the Dolphins victory.

The Dolphins’ Men’s Soccer team took their first win this season by a score of 1-0 against the Lightning of Lehman College on Wednesday afternoon at the CSI Soccer Complex. The College of Staten Island extended their record putting a mark in the winning column with a 1-7 overall and 1-0 in the CUNYAC while the Lightning dropped to a 0-7 overall record and 0-1 in the CUNYAC.

The first half of the game was silent in goal scoring but the action was packed. Although Lehman had one shot in the first half their goalie, Marcos Coto-Batres, combined with his teammates, for a total of 8 saves on CSI’s 13 shots.

It was twenty minutes into the second half that Staten Island’s Babatunde Adekanbi put the ball past Lehman’s goalie to mark the winning and only goal of the game. Adekanbi tabbed the ball in, unassisted, as play broke right in front of the net.

Lehman had a few chances to retaliate in the second half as they shot three on goal but CSI’s Andrew Brown wasn’t going to let it happen as he took the save for all three.

The Dolphins had a total of 22 shots with 12 on goal while the Lightning had seven shots with three on goal.

CSI will travel to Randalls Island on Wednesday, September 23rd in a 4:00 pm match facing Hunter College.
