Dimitri Sidiropoulos' defensive efforts were not enough as the Valiants took an 8-1 win over the Dolphins.
Manhattanville College used a steady attack to turn back the College of Staten Island on the opening day of the season, 7-0, in a match played at the CSI Soccer Complex earlier this afternoon. The Valiants scattered five goals in the first half to do most of the damage, sending the Dolphins to a record of 0-1 on the young season.

The young Dolphins squad, comprised of eight new faces to the starting lineup, couldn’t contain the Valiant attack in the early-going, as powerful Valiant forward Keston George led the repeated charge towards the Dolphins goal.

Manhattanville broke out on top with George’s unassisted effort just 7:13 in, on an empty net put-in. George was a part of the next three goals as well. The first was when he delivered a cross into the CSI box at 13:23, finding the foot of Moshee Kelyana to put the Valiants on top, 2-0. Manhattanville doubled their lead when George scored the next two goals, at 14:19 and 21:31. The first goal was on a fast break one-on-one situation with goalkeeper Andrew Brown, the second came when George slammed one in off of an Adam Kent corner kick.

Shaune Allan gave Manhattanville a 5-0 edge at halftime, and the Valiants added two more goals in the second frame from Sebastian Chica and Eros Olazabal. George assisted on both of their goals as well, finishing with a three goal-three assist performance to go with six shots on goal.

Manhattanville outshot CSI, 39-3 (18-0 on goal). Freshman Andrew Brown made 10 saves for the Dolphins, some in stellar fashion in the second half.

The Dolphins will return to action this weekend, when they take part in the Drew University Kick-Off Tournament in Madison, New Jersey. CSI will open weekend play when they take on William Paterson University on Saturday at 5pm.
