The Dolphins fell to the Baruch Bearcats on Saturday afternoon at the CSI Sports and recreation Center, 89-83 in overtime. The Bearcats extended their record to 16-6 and 8-2 in the CUNYAC while the Dolphins dropped to a 5-5 CUNYAC record and a 10-11 overall record.
Both teams started the first half strong as there were five lead changes. It wasn’t until there was 6 minutes remaining that CSI went on a 9-0 run to take their highest lead of ten. Baruch finished the half on a 7-0 run to put the score at 34-31.
Starting at 14:32, the Dolphins took the lead with Baruch tying the game twice. After the first tie at 1:53, CSI went on a 6-0 run. A three pointer turned four point play by Lionel Hilaire with .26 to go cut the deficit to two. At .22, Michael Ledbetter hit one of two free throws to put the score at 74-71 in CSI favor. With 15 seconds to go Tammer Farid hit a three pointer to tie the score. CSI had their final chance to take the game as Ledbetter went to the line with five seconds remaining. Both free throws were missed and the game was sent into overtime.
